A day long programme on 2019 Indian General elections was organized by the Department of Political Science, The Bhawanipur Education Society College on 30 th April, 2019. The programme began with the welcome address of Mrs Amala Dhandhania, Associate Professor, Political Science Department, The Bhawanipur Education Society College introducing the topic of General Elections 2019 to the audience and it’s significance.
The first event was an extension lecture by Dr. Kakoli SenGupta, Associate professor, Department of International relations, Jadavpur University on “Lok Sabha elections 2019: Role of Election commission and Political parties” at 11.15a.m. It was a productive interactive session between the speaker and the students enlightening various aspects of the upcoming elections.
The second event of the day was an awareness presentation by Mr. Titu Bardhan, Political Science Department, The Bhawanipur Education Society College at 12 p.m, for the first time voters titled- “Rights and duties of first time voters”. The presentation provided a detailed procedure of what elections are about and what are the rights and duties of the new voters.
The final event of the day was an adda session by 2 nd semester Students of Political science (Honours and General) at 12.30 p.m. The event was an interactive session between the students and the audience which brought in many new aspects regarding the upcoming elections as well as the issues, leaders and parties in question. The programme ended with the Thanksgiving note by Ms. Lopamudra Mazumder, Department of Political Science, The Bhawanipur Education Society College to all the speakers and the audience. The programme concluded at 1.30. p.m
