The BEST (Bhawanipur Entrepreneurship and Startup Training) collective of the Bhawanipur Education Society College organized a Risk Management Seminar on August 18th, 2023, which started at 11 am in the Jubilee Hall of the College campus. This seminar was conducted by the renowned Global Risk Management Institute and featured prominent speakers like Mr. Jayant Palan and Mr.Subhashis Nath. The event started when the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah gave an introductory speech to boost the entrepreneurship of the students. He introduced the concept of Risk Management through an engaging game of auction, asking students how much they were willing to pay for a Rs.100 note. The bidding began and as sir explained how to keep taking risks and he managed to make Rs.150 from just a Rs.100 note through the auction. The auction was a lesson on an opportunity created by entrepreneurs without investing a single penny, sometimes!
The seminar’s focus was Risk Management, a crucial concept in today’s growing economy of business and the financial world. Risk management involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks that can affect an organization’s operations and financial stability. Additionally, an interactive activity called “What Went Wrong with this Company” was conducted. In this activity, various companies were named, and the audience had to identify the reasons these companies were facing losses. This activity aimed to enhance participants’ critical thinking and understanding of real-world risk scenarios in the business world. During the session, there was a question-and-answer round at the end, providing participants with the opportunity to engage with the speakers and gain further insights into risk management.
Overall, the seminar on Risk Management and the accompanying activities provided valuable knowledge and practical insights into the importance of managing risks effectively in various sectors, thereby encouraging students to make informed decisions leading to success in business for the students at the college.
