The fourth chapter of ‘Career Talks- A Series- Careers in Personal Finance & Wealth Management’ was conducted on the 3rd of June ’23 at 5pm in association with International Institute of Research & Wealth Management. The programme commenced with a welcome address by the compere of the evening, Dr Joyeta Bhadury. Thereafter the felicitation ceremony ensued wherein the two panellists, Mr Devanjan Sarkar, HR Professional & Training & Development partner, IIRWM and Mr Tapas Saha, Founder, IIRWM were presented with tokens of appreciation.
Dr Subhabrata Ganguly, the Teacher – in – Charge, delivered the opening address. Mentioning how the industry offers attractive job options to those interested, Dr Ganguly made a felicitous opening setting the tone for the evening.
The first speaker of the evening, Mr Devanjan Sarkar emphasized on appropriate career choice and other relevant factors that are responsible for the smooth transition from a student to a professional. Students connected readily with Mr Sarkar on accord of his lucid oration coupled with real-life examples.
The keynote speaker Mr Tapas Saha then took stage discussing how Wealth Managers care for their clients’ investments, taxes, and accounting needs and provide specially tailored financial services to them. Mr Saha went on to explain how vast the field is and the many subfields in which qualified individuals can find jobs at various financial institutions, asset management businesses, banks, investment firms, and consultancies. Job roles include financial analysts, business development managers, financial advisors, and the likes. Besides, Mr Saha highlighted the ability to manage and leverage client relationships in identifying and seizing opportunities as a shared factor to all positions. The audience was awed by the potential in this field as a career option.
Students interacted with the dignitaries where a mutual exchange of experiences and queries occurred.
The session concluded with the Vote of Thanks by the coordinator of the Department of Commerce, Afternoon and Evening Section, Ms Atreyee Ganguly.
Overall, it proved to be an enriching experience for the students.
