The BEST collective of the Bhawanipur Education Society College organized an informative session on equity research, led by the esteemed speaker Mr. Aswini Bajaj. The session, held on the 6th of June, took place at the Jubilee Hall, and drew an impressive attendance of over 250 students. The primary objective of the event was to provide attendees with a profound understanding of how expert equity researchers analyze companies for investment purposes. The event commenced with an introductory speech by Prof. Dilip Shah, Dean of Student Affairs, who also felicitated the distinguished speaker, Mr. Aswini Bajaj.
Mr. Aswini Bajaj commenced his session by shedding light on the drawbacks prevalent in today’s financial times. He emphasized the risks associated with relying solely on “influencers” and highlighted the importance of conducting due diligence under the guidance of experienced financial experts. Furthermore, he elucidated the disparities between trading based on tips and genuine trading, while emphasizing the necessity for individuals to educate themselves before venturing into this field. Moving forward, Mr. Bajaj delved into the fundamental aspects of equity research, enlightening the audience on how to approach the analysis of a company for investment purposes. He discussed the financial details of Asian Paints as an illustrative example, dissecting both annual and quarterly reports, conference calls, and equity research. He imparted his insights on how to scrutinize these reports effectively, enabling participants to discern whether a particular company is suitable for investment. Towards the conclusion of the session, he opened the floor for an interactive Q&A session, allowing attendees to seek clarification on any doubts they may have had. The Street Play was held in the lawn in front of the Common Room. It was judged by Abhishek Bannerjee and Janardhan Ghosh. A total of five team had participated and each team consisted of eight to ten members. The topic allotted to them was Rape and accordingly the teams carried out their performances.
