The Department of History conducted a students’ presentation on May 4, 2023 where final year students Rajarshi Dutta and Neeladri Adhikary presented their research to their colleagues and members of the faculty.
Rajarshi Dutta’s paper studied the strategies, techniques and methods deployed by the Vietnamese forces against US in the Vietnam War (1955-1975). The theoretical aspects written down by Vietnamese leaders like Ho Chi Minh on Guerilla warfare and their practical applications in the conflict are also highlighted. Use of banned weapons was a marked feature too. The brutal conflict led to the American war machine trapped in a bloody cycle which led to terrible losses in life on both side and the ultimate defeat of USA.
Neeladri’s paper studies the classical capitalist mode of production in the seventeenth century and a subaltern consciousness in a developing industrialised society. The evolution of capitalism from feudalism and its first crisis is interrogated here.
Their presentation was held in Room 545 of the History Department from 2:30 pm onward. It was attended by twenty four people including members of the faculty.
