“Education is the most powerful weapon with which you can change the world.” ‘~Nelson Mandela Children will inherit this world, if we let them grow up properly, they’ll become productive members of society. Underprivileged children often have no access to quality education. Therefore, education is the most important thing we can give these kids. In this regard, The NSS unit of The Bhawanipur Education Society College visited Asha Nayan, Don Bosco. It is dedicated for the upliftment of the street children in Calcutta irrespective of gender, race, or religion. It provides these street children with access to education or to vocational training so that they and lead a meaningful life and build their future. The NSS unit initiated Chapter:1 of its project- “Connecting Dots” at Asha Nayan where NSS volunteers will conduct a 6-month Conversational English course. Followed by a proper evaluation process. On successful completion of the course a certificate will be provided to the kids. On August 27, “Connecting Dots” was launched with its basic session with “introduction” and a brief “extempore” followed by some fun events. Kids entertained everyone with their brilliant performances. The purpose to spend time with these kids is to strive towards nurturing the youth, to encourage these kids and support them in whatever change they are trying to make in the society. It’s not about who you are or how much you can do but doing our bit individually on a regular basis is what goes a long way in changing mindsets and the society. We thank the college administration for their unwavering assistance in ensuring that the project runs smoothly. We thank student coordinator of this event, Kripa Sahal for handling all the concerned issues efficiently. Athin Pillai, Anshu Agarwal, and Shubham Puri- volunteers like them genuinely change the world.
