7. Objective of the event: The workshop was organized by the College SWAYAM committee of The Bhawanipur Education Society College. The objective was to familiarize the student and the faculty members of the college with all aspects of the SWAYAM-NPTEL platform.
Further, after the workshop, the committee wanted to ensure that the faculty could mentor the students on how to navigate through the SWAYAM NPTEL platform.
8. Brief description of the event: The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Vivek Patwari, the Joint Coordinator of the SWAYAM committee of the college. The Teacher-in-Charge, Dr. Subhabrata Ganguly, in his address discussed the importance of the online teaching and learning system. The SPOC (Local Chapter, The BESC, College ID: 4661) Dr. Pinki Saha Sardar, in her address mentioned the objective of the workshop. This was followed by the encouraging address by the Rector and the Dean of Students Affairs of our college Prof. Dilip Shah.
In his deliberations, Mr. Shib Shankar Das, resource person of the workshop delivered a detailed introduction of the NPTEL platform . He navigated through all aspects of the platform and clearly discussed the process of enrolment, coursework, course completion and certification. While discussing the role of the teachers of the institution in popularizing the NPTEL courses among the students, Mr. Das emphasized on the prospective career opportunity of the students by the SWAYAM courses. He showed the success of some students across India who have highly benefited through these courses. Finally, the Q&A session ensued and the workshop was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Arnab Gangopadhyay, coordinator of the College SWAYAM committee.
9. Outcome of the event: The workshop could reach out to 300 stakeholders of the college and it is hoped that enrolment in the SWAYAM courses may increase and many students of the college may have successful careers out of it.
