“It is bad enough that people are dying of ‘Aids’ but no one should die of Ignorance.”
– Elizabeth Taylor
With this aim, The NSS unit of The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized the ‘Red Ribbon Campaign’ through the distribution of Aids Awareness Cards and red ribbons on the occasion of World Aids Day on 1st December, 2023 at the Rabindra Sadan Metro Station Gate no.1 and Esplanade Metro Station Gate no.1. The campaign began at 9:00 AM and the two teams went to their respective locations and distributed the cards to people of different age groups.
The campaign aimed to pay tribute to the deceased, offer support to those coping with HIV/AIDS and reiterate our determination to eradicate stigma today because discrimination and stigma have no place in the battle against HIV/AIDS. It’s time to show compassion, understanding, and support.
A total of 18 students distributed 500 cards and red ribbons, the logo of AIDS. Not all took it well, but few really appreciated the initiative and even shared their perspective with the student volunteers. While distributing the cards one of the team even met the ‘Ishq Foundation’ volunteers who were also spreading awareness for the same. The volunteers relished their experiences from the day. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who dedicated their time and efforts towards this meaningful cause. Thank you for your invaluable contribution and commitment to spreading awareness about AIDS.
