After the huge success of ‘Commerce Lab1’ the Department of Commerce Morning, of The Bhawanipur Education Society College, came up with the sequel named ‘Commerce Lab 2.0’. It was 10 days informative course to assist students and give them an idea of the corporate world. The main goal of this course was to provide practical insights into the workings of the corporate sector.
‘Commerce Lab 2.0’ began from 2nd September 2022 where CS Jyotirmai Mishra, President of ICSI Bhubaneswar Chapter was the Guest of Honour and the event was inaugurated by Professor Dilip Shah, the Dean of student affairs of the college.
On the First day of Commerce Lab 2.0, CS Sneha Raut shared the practicalities of appointing an independent director in a company. Students were introduced to some important forms to be submitted by a company and discussed versions 2 and 3 of the MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs) portal. CS Palika Aggarwal discussed TDS compliance, which includes a form to be filled within the stipulated time, deducting TDS rates. CS Raksha Jhunjhunwala showed the relevant forms for appointment and dismissal of manager and discussed how to fill them. The concept of DIN (Director Identification Number) was also discussed.
On the second day of Commerce Lab2.0 summary of IBC and its impact until date with respect to case studies were mentioned by CS Arani Guha. Further, forthcoming opportunities for college students as a carrier in IBC was shared by the speaker. Practically, how the operations of a government company square measure dead and managed was highlighted by CS Deepa Jhunjhunwala, also the importance of Digital upskilling for the scholars and the way it adds worth was discussed by CA Ekta Mishra. The alternatives for raising funds by the business were mentioned along with due diligence of business transactions by CS Sneha Sharma.
As of Day, third the rules for reserving a name for a business using the RUN portal on the MCA website were covered by CS Mohammad Minaz, a practicing professional. CS Yashraj Agarwala, who is also a practicing professional, highlighted the subject of LLP incorporation by demonstrating the pertinent forms that must be completed on the MCA website. The GSTR 1 and GSTR 3B forms were explained by CA Karan Kothari.
One the fourth day, CS Joydip Chakroborty spoke about the SEBI Listing Obligation and Debt Regulations 2015 and businesses listed on stock exchanges. CS Anita Dutta provided insight into the idea of MSMEs and their advantages, and the appropriate URL was displayed for MSME registration. CA Gopal Khetan spoke about the subject of mergers and acquisitions, including instances from real-world situations and their advantages. CS Binita Pandey spoke on the benefits of creating an LLP (Limited Liability Partnership) agreement.
On the fifth day of Commerce Lab 2.0 CS Ishant Jain discussed how to establish a business personality while outlining certain dos and don’ts. CS Tanvee Srivastav talked to the students on the appointment of independent directors and showed them the appropriate websites. CS Pammy Jaiswal gave the students advice on how a corporation might raise money from sources like shares, debentures, etc. Rahul Maheshwari spoke about how the Indian Stock Market operates and provided some advice on how to interpret market data. He also listed some resources that could be used to view market data.
On day six, CS Kanchan Pandey covered how to access a listed company’s public documents on the stock market website also website for BSE was suggested. CS Nitin Dabriwal spoke about GST registration and the procedures that must be followed. The practical elements of the AGM were explained by CS Kritika Mohata.
On the seventh day, CA Swati Singhania instructed the students on how to produce financial blogging material and profit from it. Insights about using video conferencing for board and shareholder meetings were provided by Swati Shaw. Advocate Akash Sharma spoke about the RTI Act with particular emphasis on real-world examples. Students themselves also submitted an RTI online.
On day eighth, CS Swagata Mahapatra Agarwal discussed the practical aspects of share transfer for private and public companies. Share certificates and related documents were displayed. CS Suruchi Tiwari shared her insights on share valuation and securities career opportunities for students. Sneha Gourisaria shed light on ITR filings, and the documents required to file the same. Mr. Ayushmaan Mishra spoke with the students about the scope of the manufacturing sector in India and future opportunities in this field.
On the ninth day, CS Shruti Singhania shared her knowledge of secretarial audit. Mr. Nikhilesh More spoke about organisational behaviour in the workplace. CS Anushka Damani advised the students on the details to include in the sale agreement, and a sample was shown. CS Vasundhara Joshi discussed how to maintain relationships with coworkers at work, as well as some tips for managing company files.
On the tenth day, which was the final day Commerce Lab 2.0, Advocate Richa Saraf discussed Force Majeure and its impact on the economy. CS Ayush Mittal guided the students on how a company’s director should complete his KYC every year. Amit Sharma, Founder and MD of Dynavision Technologies Pvt.Ltd, advised our students on the mindset and approach required to start a new business.
In just 10 days, more than 45 professionals were invited, and their valuable guidance benefited more than 95 students. The professionals emphasized not only the importance of theoretical knowledge but also the importance of practical proficiency in today’s fast-paced, thriving world.
Lastly, the certificates distribution ceremony was held on 20th of September. Prof. Dilip Shah shared his encouraging words of wisdom and congratulated the participants. Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, coordinator of the commerce morning department and other faculties of the department also marked their presence and conveyed their best wishes to the students.
