NEXUS’16 the Annual Inter-College Management Fest of The Bhawanipur Education Society College, was held on the 29thof September 2016. It is an intercollegiate business festival which challenges the enterprising minds in a corporate scenario.The event started with a welcome speech and inaugural ceremony consisting of classical dance and an interactive session with the participants from colleges across Kolkata. A panel of distinguished judges from the industry judge the event.

FaidekaSauda
The event FaideKaSauda was a game of stock market trading of the 90s where paper share trading used to be done via auctions. On Similar lines, theCollege organised the event FaidekaSauda.
The idea of this interesting event was to help participants as well as the audience to witness a glimpse of the 90s trend of trading. Around 6 colleges took an active part in this event as participants including our college. These participants further traded the shares in 6 different companies. Initially, the 6 colleges were given 10 shares each so they could trade through themselves according to the news flashed with every company’s news and also its impact on its company’s shares. Ultimately, after 4 rounds of extensive buying and selling, thewinners were declared.
Happiness knew no bounds when the winners declared were none other than our very own college students, AyushAgarwal and Nikhil Lahoti. The second position was occupied by St.Xavier’s College followed by JDBI on the 3rd.
Therefore, the event provided a great learning experience to the participants as well as the audience.
PRASHNA MANCH
‘PrashnaManch’ one of the event of NEXUS’s based on General Knowledge. The first round was conducted by the members of ICA and they encouraged the contestants as well as the audience to join in by giving out goodies. In the event, questions were asked from various business related topics, ranging fromMukeshAmbani’s Reliance Jio to ViratKohli endorsed ‘WROGN’. The participants answered brilliantly and with great determination
SAMASYA KA SAMADHAN
Various colleges across the city took part and they were judged by judges ShaswantTulsian and Reyna Gupta, a company secretary. As the name suggests, the participants were given a crisis and they had to analyze the crisis ‘The National Spot Exchange Scam’ and come up with a suitable solution. In this event, participants came up with the most innovative solutions one could possibly think of.
StartupPreneur
Yet another interesting event of NEXUS was witnessed on from 2:00pm to 5:00 pm. The event StartupPreneur was a platform to present the B- plans ideation to drawing board. Together these talented contributors of the event made tireless efforts to make this event a great success. The idea was to help students understand in practical, the ways to make a successful start-up as an entrepreneur. 6 colleges participated in this event.
In the first round, the participant teams were asked to compress their B – plans to fit a ‘canvas sheet’ which was provided by them. The most proficient teams were moved forward to the next round. One after the other, these teams came up with their B – plans and impressed the judge, Mr. Subha Kumar Bhaduri.
“The event was not just very memorable but also provided a great learning experience to all the participants,” said a participant from St. Xavier’s College.
ADDA
Another enthralling event which had active participation was the Nexus Adda event, a concise group discussion session to improvise students’ public speaking skills. The whole three hour long event was executed under the guidance of Mr. Ajay Bhor and the Dean of the college also joined in to provide some vital tips.
The winners of the finale round were awarded duly. The discussed issues included topics like : Money is the sixth sense without which other five are nonsense; The event was a huge success and the students got to learn salient tips about self-presentation during public speaking.
Out of the box
Among the various events in the Nexus extravaganza was an OUT OF THE BOX competition. This was a marketing event, where the participants had to create a guerrilla advertisement for a product provided. The product was ‘AAM PANNA’. There was a twist as the event was sponsored by Cashtag, so the participants had to use the tag of marketing AAM PANNA by using Cashtag. Cashtag is an app which links up with cafes to give discounts to their customers.
Corporate Interview
To test your business acumen, skills, and knowledge.The event is designed to throw the worst at you to bring out the best in you. The participants need to show their calibre, the power of persuasion and the ability to handle pressure. Preparing the participants yourself to withstand the harsh reality of the corporate world. The event was judged by, Mr.AjayBhor.
Thus the fest brought together the brightest business minds to compete, collaborate, connect and test your business acumen.
