7. Objective of the event: To disseminate the knowledge of patents as applicable to products of mental fruition.
8. Brief description of the event: This seminar is the first of the initiatives undertaken to honour the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between The Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC), Kolkata and Acharya Prafulla Chandra (APC) College, New Barrackpore to transact various academic and related events. The venue of this seminar was Acharya Prafulla Chandra College premises. The seminar was inaugurated by an introductory foreword by Dr. Subhro Ghosal, The Dept. of Electronics, APC College about the scope and purpose of the seminar sessions. The honourary speakers are veterans in the field of intellectual property rights (IPR). They, with their jovial interaction, were able to drive home the concepts of patents and other related terms like trademark, copyright etc. substantiating with pertinent examples. The speakers stressed that the field of IPR is beneficial for budding researchers and holds promise for good job placements. The students, particularly, were enthusiastic enough to ask questions and were satisfied with the whole session. The program was brought to a successful end by Dr. Pinki Saha Sardar, Vice Principal, Science of The BESC, who delivered the vote of thanks.
9. Outcome of the event: The faculty members and students found that the sessions were very interesting in terms of its contents and promise for potential job prospects. The faculty members, in particular, were of the opinion that the fruits of mental labour should not go unnoticed and neither should be misappropriated. They should be given due regards and recognition as they bear the responsibility of initiating the concepts for something beautiful.
