The Bhawanipur Education Society College held an Industrial visit on the 10th of August 2019 for the budding impresario’s that is the first year students of the BBA department.
The Industrial visit was hosted by Salagram Power and steel ltd, located in Burdwan, 2:30 hours away by road.
The exhilarated students reported at the campus by 8:00am and were allocated in their respective buses followed by the teacher’s in-charge.
The bus journey from the campus to the industry was beguiled, arriving at 11:30 at the site where the teachers and students received a cordial welcome.
The students were divided into three groups containing fifty students each and head by two teachers.
The first group headed by Khizir Jaffri and Nandadulal Jana along with a official visited the Rolling Mill factory. Shyam and Salagram Power and steel limited are among one of the six industries to have a fully automated operating rolling mill. The mill consisted of Roughing two stand machine, intermediated two stand machine, continuous ten stand machine, thermals quenching machine, flying shear machine, cooling bed, cold shear machine, conveyor, tick off machine, binding machine and finally a physical lab where the final product produced is checked by five technicians. This entire mill is controlled by five people sitting in an built office.
The second team headed by Kaushik Sir and Thushar Venugopal along with another official visited the Ferro Alloy.
Ferroalloys have been developed to improve the properties of steels and alloys by introducing specific alloying elements in desirable quantities in the most feasible technical and economic way. The students were shown the disparate stages of the mixing of Ferro- manganese with Fe-Si and Fe -Cr.
The final group was headed by Mr.Chiranjib Mitra and Ms. Sreshtha Chakraborty along which an official who visited the sponge-iron plant.
Sponge iron plant or Direct Reduction Plant (DRP) is designed to produce 350tons of sponge iron per day in a rotary kiln using iron ore, non coking coal and dolomite as the raw materials.
The plant consists of the following sub divisions.
Raw material preparation plant
Direct reduction plant.
After having their minds rattled the group enjoyed the lunch provided by the industry, following which the facilitation of the CEO by the Second year co-ordinator Kaushik Banerjee.
The entire event was organised by the event management core committee members Thushar Venugopal and Khizir Jaffri. The visit was a great success.
