Keeping up with its norm of providing holistic knowledge to its students, The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized an event management workshop on the 15th, 16th, and 17th of November 2022 to present insights about the event management industry to the students at the college. The workshop took place in the Jubilee Hall inside the college campus on all 3 days. Students from different semesters and across all streams were welcome to take part in the 3-day workshop for a fee of Rs. 236. The event consisted of speakers addressing the doubts of every student and giving them a detailed view of the benefits of working as an event manager.
The first day, 15th November saw the participation of 350 people waiting outside the hall in line for registration. The event commenced at 11:30 A.M, with the inauguration by Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah who opened the event with his speech, saying, “A person who manages the event and takes responsibility for everything will never get the limelight; rather the one who is sponsoring the event will take it away.” After him, the students were addressed by Mr. Gaurav Bajoria who further facilitated the 3-day event. He enlightened the students with the real motive of the event being that students would get a chance to take part as volunteers in UMANG 2022 and use the skill sets they have acquired in the next three days. He further discussed the many departments that are involved in an event namely, Finance, Sponsorship (advertisement), Marketing, Logistics, Technical, Backstage, Hospitality, Transport and Security, Food department, Designing, Photography and Videography, Social Media Marketing.
The first half of the day concluded at 1:30 P.M. roughly and the students were provided with food packets. They were asked to return at 2 P.M. to start the second half of the day with a panel discussion with Mr. Gautam Bajoria as the Moderator: who quoted that “Planning an event which has monetary involvement requires organization and experience, Time investment, luxury providing, which makes it a successful event. Language also plays an immense role.”
The Panellists of this event were Mr. Pramod Lunawat, Mr. Swarup Datta, and Mr. Vijay Bokaddia who themselves are talented event managers and had come to impart their wisdom to students who will go on to become successful event managers in the future. The second day saw participating students being questioned on what they learned the day before by the host, Mr. Gaurav Bajoria. After a round of rapid questions and answers, students were being identified by their respective skill sets in different areas. The second day ended at 3 P.M.
The third day, however, had a surprise as students were divided into ten teams consisting of 35 students each; and they were asked to create the event of UMANG from the ground to level up. This meant that they would have to think of the departments involved, the different mini events that would take place during the fest, and so on. In all, it was a fun and stimulating experience as many students explored their chance to become a part of something as big as UMANG itself.
