The National Social Service (NSS Collective Coordinator: Prof. Divyesh Shah) induction began with greeting the BEites. Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Dilip Shah took over the crowd, he briefed them about what is NSS and previous events under NSS, he emphasized on the Each One Teach One program , after which Mr. P.K. Patnaik, the Regional Director Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports was welcomed. He trained the students with the NSS clap, and explained the essence of the clap i.e. the 3D; the first D stands for Decorum, second D stands for Decency and third D stands for Discipline. He also emphasized on the objective of NSS i.e,

“Not me but you ( mai nahi aap! )”
Mr. Patnaik informed the new members that the minimum devotion towards NSS to obtain the NSS Certificate is 240hrs in 2 years, and everyone should know the NSS song. There are around 299 universities running the NSS program and around 3.3 million voulunteers across India. NSS is about spreading awareness regarding the rights of a consumer, AIDS, Education, Clean Environment, so on. He also told that we should celebrate 15th August as the “wash hands and eat day” and 19th November as “observe world toilet day” by cleaning the toilets.
There was a briefing session about the NIC(National Integrated Camp) and the NSS mega cap. He showed a video based on the history of NSS, how it started , and the work done by the volunteers!
Prof. Divyesh Shah felicitated Mr. P.K. Patnaik, with a momento. A presentation was conducted by one of the students, Puja Mahato, show casing all the past events conducted by this collective and promoting the future events like; The Refuge, Blood Donation Camp and community service.
The objective of this collective emphasized how the students can promote their service for the development of civil environment.
500 plus students, the entire Board of Trustees and all the senior teachers holding hands to take the solemn pledge to donate blood; putting their hands on their hearts as they sang the National Anthem to reiterate the promise – one doesn’t get to witness such events in a hurry, going even by the Bhawanipur …
