The Bhawanipur Education Society College witnessed a day of fun and frolic at the Gitanjali Stadium on 29th February 2020. The spirit of Carnival 2020 was in the air already, upon which the excitement of URJA-Intra College Athletics Sports Meet had intoxicated each soul. The Carnival was a one-day event which was clubbed with URJA. There were 29 stalls which were set up across the stadium.
The carnival started with a lot of eclat. The stalls were set up by 12pm which marked the commencement of the Carnival. There were all sorts of stalls which provided- bakery and desserts, handmade products, Games stalls, Garments, Personalised gifts, books and Food stalls of all kinds. The main attraction of the day was the Dog Show which started at 4:30pm and captured the interest of most of the audience. This was followed by a marvellous Music Concert by THE BOLLYWOOD COMPANY which started at 5pm in the stadium itself. This was followed by a fire juggling show and then the Carnival Dance where students danced and enjoyed themselves.
Prof. Dr. Divyesh Shah, coordinator for commerce(M) commented, “I am very pleased with the arrangement of the event and happy that the hard work of all the volunteers and people behind this event has paid off. I have personally visited every stall and I am very happy with everybody’s effort and creativity.” He went on about describing that how the idea of a carnival had originated within the campus of The Bhawanipur College- The first ever carnival that was held was in 2016, called “Al-Sukh”, which in Arab means ‘Flea Market”; it was conducted at Valia Hall with only 12stalls. The second carnival in 2017 was called “Agora” which in Greek means “flea market” and was again held at Valia Hall in which sugarcane juice, kesari tea and fire juggling was introduced for the first time. In 2018 The Carnival-I was conducted at the Turf with 24 stalls. In 2019 The Carnival-II had taken shape with more than 30 stalls after which Carnival 2020 took place where Paintball was introduced for the first time.
