The Department of BBA of The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised a seminar on the 14th of March, 2020. The seminar was an open-to-all with the major focus being economics and the current scenario. The esteemed guest speakers were highly knowledgeable people like CS Vinod Kothari, CMA Arundhati Basu and CA Timir Boron Chatterjee. The moderator for the day was Prof. (Dr.) Suman Kumar Mukerjee, Director General, BESC.
The seminar started off with all the speakers and moderator being felicitated by the students. Dr. Mukerjee then proceeded to the podium with his views on the current Indian economy and how taboos differentiate the foreign mindset from us Indians. Next Prof. Dilip Shah, the Dean of student Affairs, BESC gave his blessing and started off the seminar.
The first speaker invited was CS Vinod Kothari. Mr Kothari shed some light on how the share market saw a ridiculous fluctuation the previous day because of the epidemic, Coronavirus, what the reasons were and what should a smart investor do in such times.
He was then followed by CMA Arundhati Basu who agreed with Mr Kothari and shared with us her personal views on how this pandemic is affecting trade. She also advised the students regarding savings and investing.
Next up was CA Timir Boron Chatterjee. Mr Chatterjee made us realise the importance of India in the world economy and how likely it is for India to become a much bigger and stronger economy than China one day soon.
The seminar was overall an experience which each student needed right now. In these times of fluctuating economy and the sword of the pandemic, Coronavirus dangling over our heads, the guidance and a professional outlook was much needed. All the students took back home, key pieces of knowledge which was to make them smarter and sharper economically.
The line-up of speakers for the event was impressive. The 400 odd students who had had gathered were eager to hear it from the horse’s mouth and heard it they did. For the topic of the Seminar was Event Management, something that all BESC students are either already famed for or is the chosen field …
