Concept hall, 3rd May, 2019. The Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) is a highly sought-after destination for employers seeking to fill their ranks. The reasons for such a claim to fame, however are not far to seek – students of BESC are known for their go-getting ways and their ability to learn on the job, thereby making excellent recruits. The facts that BESC places an inordinate amount of stress in making the students job-ready; routinely exposes the students to actual work situations, provides opportunities of interacting with proven experts from respective fields; offers a number of career-oriented courses and generally has succeeded in freeing the young minds from learning by rote are all reasons for the popularity of the institution and its students among the employers.
Thus, BESC witnesses a number of “placement drives” around the year – drives that are meant as much to placate the endless wants of the employers as they are to meet the actual placement needs of the students. It will not be an exaggeration to point here that BESC is perhaps one of the few institutions of its kind where demand outstrips supply – of students seeking placements, consistently!
Says Prof Minakshi Chaturvedi, the head of Placements Cell of BESC, “most of our students prefer to pursue further studies and are thus not available for placements. From the rest a solid portion come from business background who either go to join their ancestral businesses or go in for start-ups of their own. Thus, the number of actual students who seek placements is really limited and it is true that demand outstrips supply as the employers are keen to take our students because of their street-smart positivity and ability to get things done. However, for summer internships, there are many applicants as students prefer to learn first-hand the working intricacies of the areas of their preference. As we have a number of Career Connect courses that are tailormade to help students make the transition from passion to profession, such placements are much in vogue with employers lappin g them up because of their proven affinity for the subject.”
The current round of placements too, was no different. There were representatives from ten different companies who had trooped in to pick up the best candidates. Fifty-five students were selected outright while another seventeen were selected for absorption into the company rolls gradually.
Companies that participated in the current round were Nirmal Holding (Contemporary Group), Digital Brain, Dhruvsatya Personal Transformation, Wakeeta Solutions LLP, Learn Train Lever Ltd, JJ Automotive, Clickaqge solutions, Auto Hitech, Pashupati Ispat and PR Export. The sheer variety of industry segments in which the companies operate is anothe4r fact that needs to be noted, for, the BESC student is spoilt for choice, indeed.
