Concept Hall, August 13th, 2018. About three hundred students had thronged to herald the induction ceremony of the Fashionista – the life and style collective of the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) – they were not disappointed. For what transpired was not only high voltage in terms of glamour quotient but was also a portend of what is to come in the days ahead.
Komal Chowdhury, who started the proceedings, talked fashion to the crowd, quietly working them up towards a frenzy before handing over the microphone to the hugely popular Jerry Ma’am who laid it down on the audience as it is – that fashion is less about the clothes that you wear and more about who you are, how you conduct yourself and the way your perceive your-self to be.
The mandatory grooming – covering the entire spectrum from self confidence and inner strength to the external eye-candy enhancers, makeup and diction were covered by her. Grooming, fitness, styling, etiquette, voice modulation – she did not leave any stone unturned and gave the students in the audience as comprehensive a walk through as possible.
She also introduced the students to the Bhawanipur Design Academy, explaining in the minutest of details the courses that are on offer and the various ways in which the BDA can touch their lives to transform them forever.
That it was not empty bluster was then brought to light when all the students present in the audience were encouraged to take part in a Ramp Walk. The actual difficulty of being nonchalant, a-la mega model was made to be realised by the participants who also took away from the event another valuable lesson – that if they want it really bad, they too can achieve anything in life. A walk on the ramp included.

Career Connect – the much-lauded bespoke programme of the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) that encourages students to walk the talk from passion to profession organised its investiture ceremony on the twenty first of March in the Society Hall of the College.
Antakshari is a spoken parlour game played in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal. Each contestant sings the first verse of a song that begins with the Hindustani consonant on which the previous contestant’s song ends. The first event on the second day of Umang’14 was Antakshari which was held at the main stage.
