The Bhawanipur Education Society College played host to the The West Bengal State Darts Championship -Stage 2 presented by the Darts Association of Bengal from the 26 th January,2018 to the 28 th January, 2018.
Samit Malhotra, Indian Common Wealth Lawn Bowler was the Chief Guest for the event.
Miraj D. Shah the Vice Chairman of BESC and Professor Dilip Shah, graced the event with their presence.
Darts, a game requiring immense concentration and accurate hand-eye coordination saw BE-ite, Mayur Nahata, winning the Youth singles and causing a stir to reach the Men’s Singles knockoff.
He eventually losing to Nitin Kumar to the obvious disappointment of the crowd.
The Ladies Singles was a pulsating affair with Neha Srivastav coming out on top beating former National Champions Ankita Upadhyay, Jolly Chanda and Asha Mehta in the quarters, semi-final and finals respectively.
The open Doubles was won by Nitin Kumar and former state Champion Vivek Khandelwal beating a spirited Mohan Goel and Viral Mehta.
In a nail biting affair, the Mixed Doubles went on to the last dart thrown with 1 st time winner, Raahat Kapoor, and Asha Mehta beating a seasoned team of Mohan Goel and Jolly Chanda.
The team event was also closely contested with the unbeaten team Rockers coming out on top against team Kaidis in the Finals. Darts, being in a nascent stage in India, has already seen Indian players performing well at the International Stage and bringing glory to the country.
The enthusiasm that was witnessed among the BESC students in the event thus bears well for the game and its practitioners, felt those in the know.
Devesh Srivastava, Chairman of Darts Association of Bengal was present for the Finals and Prize Distribution.
The 3 day event was a success with many happy winners, both newbies and veterans hitting the bullseye, all thanking BESC for being hosts per excellence. “Good Darts”, like they say!
