Goods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax which was introduced in India on 1 July 2017 and was applicable throughout India which replaced multiple cascading taxes levied by the Central and State Governments. Therefore, awareness of the people about GST is of supreme importance and plays a crucial role in the welfare of the country. This is probably one of the chief reasons why Bhawanipur College has been organizing 15-day workshops on GST and is currently running its 6th Batch open to both students and outsiders. To address the updates and an in-depth analysis on the practical issues and problems and announcements by the Government of India, a Seminar was organized called GST Manthan on August 2, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Society Hall of the college, open for students who successfully cleared the GST workshop.
A total of 72 students were observed attending the workshop. To help explain the concept of GST Manthan we had a team of brilliant Chartered Accountants from the city, CA Shubham Khaitan, CA Abhishek Agarwal and CA Niraj Harodia. Together, they added their expertise and experience making it a knowledgeable session by addressing there queries. Many GST errors arise as a result of a lack of knowledge of GST rules and regulations. Thus, it’s imperative that necessary GST knowledge and valuable insights into common GST risk areas and errors were addressed.
